Build History C-I-SAID V3

To update C-I-SAID V3 to the latest build download the file CV3U.zip and  extract the files into the main C-I-SAID folder. This is normally

        C:\program files \ code-a-text ltd \ cisaid

Please read note under build 3.5.8 before proceeding.

The first release of this programme was Build 3.5.0

Build History C-I-SAID V3
To update C-I-SAID extract the two files into the main C-I-SAID folder. Normally
C:\program files \ code-a-text ltd \ cisaid

The first release of this programme was Build 3.5.0

Changes Made in Build 3.6.0 9th August 2003

This build updates the build number of the Report Manager to the same as the Document Manager.
When listing Word Groups and Phrases from Report Manager\Documents the number of items in each category is recorded.
A new function in the Documents menu lists the word groups and phrases that have been indexed on a specific document.
If the user does not select a word group before pressing the Import button from the Words and Word Groups window then phrases that are highlighted in the text will be directly imported into the phrases list.
If a word group is selected then any phrases will be copied into the appropriate word group list and also into the phrases list.
When using the "Get from External Sources \ Import word groups" function in the Words and Word Groups window a check is now made that compares existing word group words with those being imported. Any words/phrases in the external database which are not found in the destination database will be added. Previously words were only added if the word group did not exist in the source database.
Whenever word groups or phrases are added the text is screened for the apostrophe character asc 146 (used by word and other word processors) and this is replaced by character 39 the standard apostrophe. This was previously only done when texts were saved.
The 146 character cause a "Syntax" error to appear when processing within the lexicon. The format\ batch replace character function can now replace characters in the word groups and phrases list as well as the main text.
PHRASES ARE NOT ADDED TO A DOCUMENT INDEX UNTIL THEY ARE LISTED IN THE PHRASES WINDOW AND THE DOCUMENT HAS BEEN RE-INDEXED.
When a document has been indexed there are no percentage scores for phrases. This can be used to list the phrases. In the "lexicon\lexical analysis\ document word counts" window select the percentage column and then select Sort Down. This will list the phrases at the top of the list.
It is now possible to view the source of a phrase as of a word in this window. Select the word/phrase row, select the appropriate column and click on source.
Potential errors caused by phrases which are in the list but not in a document have been trapped. These were indicated by a no current record error, at the end of the indexing process.
Potential errors caused by two or more phrases starting at the same point in a document have been trapped. These were indicated by an error message stating that a unique index is required. More than one phrase can now start at the same point in a document.
When adding acoustic properties to a document which has sound but no text errors could occur is the user requested acoustic scales that require text. These now have been trapped.

Changes Made in Build 3.6.0 14 March 2003

The build of the Report Manager remains at 3.5.9

Fixes error when trying to convert databases with 200 scales in the original database.
Fixes invalid use of null error which can occur when opening a coding window. This seems to be initially caused by the programme being closed without saving a scale set.
Adds capacity to make the video window the top window on the screen. Document Manager.

Changes Made in Build 3.5.9 13 December 2002.

A number of features have been added which facilitate the direct import of data from tab delimited files. These are specifically focused on making easy the import of data from other packages such as SPSS.  The new facilities automate the process of creating the scales C-I-SAID requires to import such data. They also allow for segments to be inserted into an existing C-I-SAID document.  The PDF file Importing Data From A Spreadsheet provides a tutorial to help users accomplish these tasks.
Changes Made in Build 3.5.8 - 27 November 2002
Fixed problem when importing tab delimited files with scales with names contain non alphabetical characters.
Fixes the division by zero error which sometimes occurs when playing the first segment of linked sound files.

This build was made using an updated version of the C-I-SAID text editor based on ATX45.OCX which is included in the zip file.  Please leave this in the C-I-SAID folder.  If error messages occur relating to this file then the version found in the windows system32 folder should be replaced with this version.  Until now no problems have been reported and the older version can thus be left in place.

Changes Made in Build 3.5.7 - 16 March 2002

Fixes a number of problems which occur when using phrases in which the words contain apostrophes e.g. "I don't" in word group searches.
Enables a picture reference to be added when importing data from a tab delimited file.  Enter the name of the picture file (either a bitmap or jpeg file) into a column "cdother" - there should not be any path information. The file is normally expected to be in either the working folder or the media folder.
A forward slash \ can now be included in the text within a tab delimited file.

These facilities anticipate the release of the Imaging Manager later this year.

Changes Made in Build 3.5.6 - Document Manager Only-  - 28th August 2001.
This is an operational update which fixes some problems with entering licensing numbers.
There are no substantive changes.

Changes Made in Build 3.5.5 - 31st July 2001

Adaptations have been made to some functions to allow the user to work with a full stop as a date separator and a comma as a decimal separator. Please note that when initially saving a document in the Document Manager which contains speech units divided into segments e.g. "1.01" your machine must be set to use a full stop as a decimal separator when saving the text. For all other operations the machine can work with a comma as a decimal separator.
You are not advised to mix the special speaker designator '%' with other speaker designators. Warning messages have been built in. Speaker designators can be changed throughout a project from the Report Manager \ Format \ Batch Replace Speakers function.

Changes Made in Builds 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 - 17th July 2001

It is now possible to select the colours used to represent data in a number of the rating scale analysis charts.
A 'duplicate scale' function has been added to enable a copy to be made of an existing scale.
The 'Lagged Crosstab Table' now reports the number of segments in the target which have been identified.
The 'Lagged Crosstab' function now has a 'range' facility which allows the user to select the number of target speech units which should be included when searching for a link between the stimulus code and the target.

Changes Made in Build 3.5.2 - 3rd July 2001

It is now possible to set a user defined numerical scale to null
A new function has been added to Rating Scale Management. This is a development of the super-ordinate scales function but allows the user to create a single super-ordinate scale where the codes are the names of the sub-ordinate scales. Where more than one sub-ordinate scale has been coded their names are strung together to create the new code value.
The problem which caused the categorical scale search to sometimes only recognise the first OR scale entered has been fixed.

Changes Added in Build 3.5.1 - 22 June 2001

Fixed problems which caused an "overflow error" when backing up or recording to larger hard disks formatted in NFTS and using a compressed file system.
Enabled the use of filters when using documents or speakers as the independent variable when analysing the association between categorical scales.
Improved error trapping for the Compare Documents function in the Document Manager.
