Background to Resource Development

My programme development work has always followed a personal need.  The earlier programmes initially evolved to help me teach clinical practice and later  research tools  Since retiring I have spent much of my time studying photography and have developed various programmes to help in this area. These include an image manager application, a pixel management filter, the image generation programme Kaleid-O-Scope and the PhotoTimer.  Only the last two are currently available.

The PhotoTimer

The first of these is the Photo Timer which provides a simple and easy to use computer based method for carrying out complex timing operations. The Photo Timer evolved from the need for a simple method to keep track of complex timing operations.

The specific operation I wanted to track was the processing of colour slide film which is particularly complex. You can read more about the photo timer by clicking on the link at the side of this page. Because I found it so difficult to get information about the best methods of processing E6 film I have written a chapter on this process in the hope it will save others the angst I experienced.

Designed for timing photographic processes, the Photo-Timer provides a simple and straightforward method for handling complicated timing operations. It provides two features.

Stopwatches

Which are just like their physical counterparts and can be used to time an event or to count down a time. You can run any number of stopwatches together.

Sequential Timer

The Sequential Timer can run a sequence of up to eight timing operations. Within each timing operation you can set a combination of alarms, warnings and messages. Messages can be recorded by the user to give instructions about how to proceed at a given time. Because the Photo-Timer uses spoken messages the user does not have to view the screen. Each timing sequence, its messages and written instructions can be saved.

For more information about the Photo Timer download  the Photo Timer PDF file (256K). This requires the Acrobat Reader - if you do not have a copy of the acrobat reader it can be downloaded from the adobe website www.adobe.com.  For answers to specific questions email innereye@code-a-text.co.uk with photo timer in the heading .
